Had no where for taxi to drop me off, ended up miles away due to one way system. And yes the intercom was half way up the wall so I hhad to sit and wait for some people to pass.
When you do the sums, if we are were able to do some part time I am sure it would cost the tax payer more in the long run in housing benefit/council tax credit, work and child tax credits or at very least not a big enough saving to make much difference. And when you add in the factor that you could well be in and out of work you are never going to make your way up the job ladder and need less state support either.
Cant wait for my placement in WRAG I think it should be compulsury that they can name at least 3 jobs I could do, insaine that work group means you could do some work but oh yes we cant actually name any job....Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34940564.post-73396119442423120502008-06-11T16:27:00.000+01:002008-06-11T16:27:00.000+01:00Nick, Hi and thanks for your comment. Apologies for my appalling inability to answer comments!
It seems to me that so many of us have the same experience of the benefits system that it cannot be working properly for anyone. Oh, except possibly fraudsters who will continue to commit fraud regardless of the changes. Surely the more practical response from the government would be to recognise that many people want to work and contribute to society but cannot manage the 16 hours per week needed for tax credits etc. Aaargh! I'm on income support because I'm a single parent, I'm classed as able-bodied but tell that to the depression that keeps stopping me getting anything done. Last summer, I decided it was time to start looking for work, and the friendly jobcentre lady arranged for me to go on a course. The guy running it was very charismatic and *cared* so deeply about dragging us all off the dole and finding us jobs, but if I found fault with one of his pat solutions he told me I was making excuses. He had a set job that he recommended to all single parents (because we're interchangable, I guess) and when I started asking questions like "Well what if it's more than I can manage?" and "How am I supposed to get everything done at home?" and even "How is that not making it harder to achieve my ultimate goal of being self-employed?" he turned round and said I didn't want what was best for my family, I just wanted what was easiest for me. As if my working myself into another breakdown would be best for my daughter.

It's good to know I'm not the only person utterly frustrated with the way the system's set up.Nick Kiddlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08157667039265611431noreply@blogger.com
