I've not seen this advanced as an argument but I'm sure its a valid oneAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34940564.post-64136114065247549452010-09-11T21:28:11.627+01:002010-09-11T21:28:11.627+01:00Retiring from your much- loved profession (with an...Retiring from your much- loved profession (with an occupational pension I paid for)and claiming incapacity benefit is NOT a lifestyle choice!I paid NI contributions as an INSURANCE and I don't expect to be means tested in order to receive it. Doing nothing and claim...Ooh, it makes me so angry. Doing nothing and claiming benefits hasn't been a valid "lifestyle choice for many years - if you're unemployed, you're abliged to provide evidence of your job-hunting, and if you're sick, YOU'RE BLOODY SICK! We already have medical assessments to prevent people pretending to be ill when they aren't, and which in practice just make genuine claimants terrified of being found "fit to work" when they really aren't. There is no need to further harass the poor sods who rely on benefits for their basic needs. This stuff is just cheap, cynical dog-whistle politics.

Sure, a tiny minority of benefits claims will be fraudulent. As a taxpayer (yes, I have a new job :D), I'd rather let a few frauds go than victimise vast numbers of genuine claimants.Madison Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04452442210490015547noreply@blogger.com
