Pour me something stronger #wca

The beauty of tonight's sky is such a sharp contrast to the sadness in my soul. How did we get here? When did it happen that the Britain we thought we knew slipped away, subtly shaded by something darker, more sinister and so frighteningly real?

Tonight I made a promise, a promise I was so saddened but not at all shocked to hear asked, a promise I hope very much never to have to keep, but a promise all the same. I had to promise that if anything should happen to one of the most courageous survivors any of us can imagine that I would make sure everyone knew who is responsible.

But, most of us? We already know, and even those who don't are beginning to shuffle with disquiet. We look away, those of us safe enough, secure enough to have enough. We look away so as not to have to face the fear that we are all innately vulnerable and that a need for social security does not make us lesser, or other, but fundamentally human. '

And whilst we all look away, I broke my heart listening to another seriously ill person being broken in the name of welfare reform. And I made the only promise I could - that if it ever comes to it I will make sure everyone knows who's responsible,

Read your history. After Trafalgar, for instance, the Treasury coldly and deliberately withheld payment from the seamen involved for many months. Many were injured in the battle and died before they ever saw their money, making considerable savings for the Treasury. The Bank of England, another example, was founded by a group of traders, favoured by leading politicians of the day. They suggested that if gold were deposited with them, depositers would receive annual interest. Depositers were surprised to receive that interest in the form of IOUs, bank notes, they were called, and we still use a form of them today. By the time it was happening, it was all made perfectly legal and those displeased had little they could do as the BofE found itself in a position where it would actually be illegal for it to pay people back in kind. Did I mention they founding traders were favoured by leading polticians of the day? This meant people couldn't get their original stake back in gold, let alone the interest. All perfectly legal too. The point of the scam was to relieve people, the common people of the land, of their valuable gold and replace it with soon-to-be-depreciating-in-value IOUs. It worked a treat too. This is the same country it's always been.
I think we'll win over them, I'm quite certain of it in myself, in fact. I think we could see the end of the fabled British Establishment in the next decade. More and more people are beginning to understand how it is they come to be the Establishment, and with understanding, their weaknesses, their vulnerabilities, are being revealed. Read up on Land Value Taxes and ask yourself why they aren't even in the conversation. We'll get there.

I'd pour you something stronger, if I could...

So saddened to hear that you've had to make such a promise; and so terribly sad to hear that someone is in such a position that they need you to make and (possibly, hopefully not 'inevitably') keep that promise. I wish you and your friend the very, very best.

I should say I hope you never end up in a wheelchair but actually I really hope you and your kind do. Preferably with something like MND so you will have a working mind inside a useless body and when you' ve had enough of life like that its tough t***y cos your precious
Govt wont let you have an early exit. Maybe then you will stop picking on other disabled people like the blogger.
