Mind the Gap

I highly recommend this post by Mary as an insight into the stupidity and failings of the benefits system for those disabled people who are doing exactly as the government dictates and attempting to work.

Once again, stupid is as stupid does.

PS: I don't mean Mary is stupid. Obviously. Anyone who can navigate the benefits mess must have at least double the IQ of your average politician.

PPS: I don't mean Mary is only twice as clever as your average politician, for starters she can write in full sentences

The Shrink: Grim indeed-the sheer waste infuriates me!

Cas: I know, the deal that carer's get is sickening

I don't know, I can think of people who might quite reasonably point out that taking a path where I have less money, less energy, and less time to myself, is indeed the path of stupidity...

The benefits system is a total mess.

It is a simple either or choice - either you work full time and get caught in a cycle of constantly having to go through assessments, when the dissability becomes too much and you have to stop work.

Or you accept you are disaabled and stop work.

Either way you are condemned for being ill.

Casdok: While I remember, is it carer's week this week? If so (or anyway) would you like to write a post on your benefits situation? If you have the time, I'd love to post it here. Email me if you do x

Mary: I know, ironic isn't it?! If it is stupidity, then it's the kind alot more people need to be showing though. Oh, hope your site traffic is up especially now the post was picked up by Jackart?

TFA: A beautiful summary of a crappy situation!

Kim: Glad you liked them x

I have watched my sister who is disabled struggle with working and not working. She can't have savings of they stop her aide. She can't have nice things or they stop her aide. It is a real mess. How can you get ahead if you can't save money, if you can't move up? I always feel like she is being punished for the stroke at six she had no control over.

It is so frustrating.

Mary is not quite as stupid as she might not think she isn't.

Mr Nighttime: I think I was having a 'moment' when I tried to write that...it all sounded a muddled mess whatever I said! Still, as long as Mary knows I werent' accusing her of stoopidity ;)

Mary: That's great! Although I suspect more likely down to Jackart picking the post up than my redirect rate ;)

Cityunslicker: It certainly is, and what's more infuriating is all the political proposals are only going to make it worse!

Slip: Precisely!

Nicey: Indeed! Hope you had a fun w'd

Marla: Exactly! I'm sorry to hear your sister has such troubles, but you couldn't have put it better, it does feel exactly as though we are being punished for a situation entirely beyond our control x

James: lol!
