waiting times are revealed and the NHS told to stop "relying on charities"

Not that this is a surprise to regular readers.* The only comment I would add is that the situation will be worse than reported as many people will 'fall off' waiting lists as either they are too desperate to wait, or they become entirely housebound as a result.

This is so short sighted, as yes as you state the waiting lists may get shorter, but what difficulties will they be making if people become housebound... and how much more will that cost?
it is becoming ever more a two tier system
Sometimes you just have to wonder...

I knew it was bad but hadn't realised just how much of a lottery it is to get a powered chair. Disgraceful doesn't even begin to describe it. This makes me so angry. When I learn of stuff like this it makes my own disabilities fade into the background - I can walk, I can dress myself, I can work, I can do most things and it makes me realise how lucky I am not to be at the mercy of a health system that is supposed to provide universal and equal care for all at the point of access, yet doesn't. Unless, of course, you're fortunate enough to live in a postcode where the PTC is trying to do the right thing.

I am intending to lease a powered scooter through Motability. The payments are deducted directly from your Mobility Allowance (if paid at the higher rate).

Elaine: I had thought of that option, but I use my mobility allowance to cover costs of living, there's no way I could afford to use the whole allowance 'just' for a car or scooter...and practicality dictates I have to have a car. Will you review your scooter and the process when you get one? It'd be really helpful to lots of ppl I reckon? BG x
